It’s with great sadness that we learned yesterday of the death of our dear Meris Michaels in Geneva, where she had lived for many years. Her sudden death comes as a shock to the entire Phonegate team. We would like to express our deepest sympathy to the caring woman and tireless activist she was until her final days.
Meris Michaels, a pillar of our NGO
Meris was one of the pillars of our NGO, an honorary member, she participated from before the creation of Phonegate Alert (2018) in all the battles that helped inform and publicize the Phonegate industrial and health scandal on an international level.
Meris was American. On an entirely voluntary basis, she translated thousands of documents and articles from French into English, her mother tongue. She worked on an almost daily basis with Dr. Marc Arazi, accompanying him in his action to alert the public and helping him with the English translation of his book Phonegate.
The recent decision by the Federal Communications Commission (FED) to modify its regulatory testing procedures for SAR in the USA resonates even more strongly knowing that Meris contributed actively to this historic victory. We dedicate it to her!
For Dr. Marc Arazi and on behalf of the entire team:
“We would like to offer our most sincere condolences to her family, friends and loved ones who are grieving her loss. Her sincere and benevolent friendship was an enormous comfort during all those years of joint action. We will never forget her unfailing commitment. We will continue the fight without you, and it won’t be easy. Rest in peace dear Meris!”
